  • How much money is being moved to the Fellows?

    • Each Fellow receives $15,000.00 USD in Remember the Future grant funding. See more below.

    • Each Fellow also receives $1,000.00 USD in Technical Assistance Funds and $1,600.00 USD in Connection Funds. See more below.

    • There may be additional funds available based on the cohort’s decision to have a retreat.

  • What are the start and end dates?

    • The second year of the Remember the Future Fellowship takes place from September 2025 to August 2026

  • Who’s participating this year?

    • Each of the Remember the Future Fellows was nominated through a democratic process with the team at Art.coop. Thirteen groups were nominated, from which 6 were selected. These 5 Fellows have been joined us for a second year (Acres of Ancestry, who participated in Year 1, is not joining for a second year):

      • Artisans Cooperative

      • Groupmuse

      • MeansTV

      • Ohketeau

      • Question Culture

  • Are there any major changes?

    • After receiving feedback from Fellows, the second year of Remember the Future has changed. In lieu of the 1 orientation, 3 introductory workshops and 4 seasonal check-ins required in the pilot year, the second year requires leadership of 1 workshop, participation in 2 workshops, and attendance at 1 orientation and 2 check-ins.

  • What are our working agreements?

    • Understanding that this is a pilot program and giving patience, feedback, and care as Art.coop develops this program for the first time;

    • Building and being in community with the Cohort, meet with each other to share skills and stories

    • Working towards self-set goals using self-set measurements of success;

    • Strengthening their values alignment with the Solidarity Economy Movement;

    • Sharing the stories of their governance, financial, and relational structures; and

    • Reflecting on prior technical assistance programs received (if any) to shape the Remember the Future pilot fellowship as it is refined over years.

  • Calendar

    • Events in white are required, and events in black are optional.

Money

Main Grant

  • Payment Restrictions

    • Each Fellow will receive a funding agreement from Art.coop via Movement Strategy Center for the grant amount of $15,000.00 USD.

    • Please note that the funding agreement will be subject to 501(c)(3) and public charity regulations, and recipients who are not 501(c)(3) organizations or are not fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) organization will have additional reporting requirements. Full terms can be found within the agreement.

    • To receive funding, Fellows must provide documentation of their group's legal structure. Fellows will receive instructions based on your legal structure.

  • Payment Schedules

    • There are 2 different payment schedule options:

      • In two installments of $7,500 each, paid in the 1st month and 6th month timeframes of the Fellowship

      • In three installments of $5,000 each, paid in the 1st month, 5th month, and at the 9th month of the Fellowship.

    • Payment dates will be outlined in the funding agreement.

    • The two installment payment schedule is the default unless Fellows indicate another preference.

  • Payment Process & Deadlines

    • Fellows will send required materials (such as W9, tax status, billing information, etc.) to MSC & Art.coop by 30 July 2025.

    • Fellows will receive a funding agreement by 15 September 2025.

    • Fellows must complete and sign the funding agreement by 30 September 2025.

    • For any monies Fellows receive as a grant, they will be required to report on charitable use of funds, per IRS determination by 1 October 2026.

Connection Fund

  • Payment Restrictions

    • The Connection Fund helps cover up to $1,600 in travel, accommodations, registration, or food costs related to any gatherings Fellows want to attend — including your own retreats, events, conferences, etc.

    • The Connection Fund can be used towards participation in any aligned conferences, events, workshops, or Fellow-to-Fellow gatherings on your radar.

    • We are not able to pay upfront for travel meals or unforeseen costs, i.e. airplane snacks, and these will be reimbursed instead. If you plan to spend a portion of your stipend on travel-related expenses such as travel meals or ground transportation, you may submit your receipts for reimbursement. Please save receipts and submit via our Accounts Payable form

    • Additionally, if you would need a physical credit or debit card present to make a purchase, i.e. incidentals for hotel reservations, reimbursement will be the only option.

    • TL;DR:

      • Things paid upfront…

        • Will be completed during office hours with Sruti

        • Could include airfare and conference registrations,

        • Will be processed by Sruti via GForm with you.

      • Things that are reimbursed…

        • Are processed after a purchase is made

        • Could include purchases like snacks, public transportation, unreserved cars/bikes, or food delivery.

        • Will require itemized receipts to be submitted via GForm within 2 weeks of purchase. See more under “reimbursement guidelines” below.

  • Ideas for Connection Fund Uses

  • Payment Process & Deadlines

    • The steps for this Fund are a lot simpler than the Technical Assistance fund:

      1. Discuss with your Collective what you’ll use this money towards.

      2. Find a time to make the purchases with Sruti synchronously. They’ll use the Art.coop credit card for any/all purchases that don’t require IRL confirmation of the card.

      3. Send your receipts to Sruti, who will fill out this Google Form with you.

      4. Attend your event! If you need to make any more purchases, go ahead and save your itemized receipts.

      5. When you’re back, complete this Google Form where you’ll share your receipts and other payment information.

      6. In a couple weeks, you’ll receive your reimbursement.

    • Fellows are expected to request their Technical Assistance and Connection Fund monies, to be spent by Art.coop on the Fellow’s behalf, by 1 June 2026. Fellows are expected to spend their Technical Assistance and Connection Fund monies before the end of the Fellowship on 1 September 2026

    • For any monies Fellows receive as a grant, they will be required to report on charitable use of funds, per IRS determination by 1 October 2026.

Technical Assistance Fund

  • Payment Restrictions

    • The Technical Assistance Fund helps cover up to $1,000 in any technical assistance needs your group has.

    • This money can be used to pay a contractor (i.e., an accountant to help with books) or an organization (i.e., a conflict mediation group to help with team dynamics), or to pay for materials (i.e., team software) or expenses (i.e., to file for your new legal status). See the menu here as a Google Document or here as a PDF (also linked below in shareable images) for some ideas of what you can use the monies towards.

    • If you have questions about what is or isn’t eligible for the Technical Assistance Fund, write to Ebony and Sruti.

  • Payment Process & Deadlines

    • Process for Contracts

      • Each Fellow contacts the Technical Assistance Provider and establishes a flow for working together, including deliverables, tasks, and due dates. If you need help with an introduction, let me know!

      • Once you have agreed to work together, introduce Sruti and Ebony to the Technical Assistance Provider and share your deliverables, tasks, and due dates.

      • Art.coop will create a contract based on the information shared.

      • Art.coop’s fiscal sponsor, Movement Strategy Center, will send the Technical Assistance Provider contracts to sign. The Technical Assistance Provider will need to provide me with their W9 and payment information, and must sign contracts with Art.coop’s fiscal sponsor, MSC.

      • Once work is completed between the Fellow and the Technical Assistance Provider, they must both reach out to Art.coop.

        • The Technical Assistance Provider will share an invoice, which the Fellow will verify.

      • Art.coop will request the Technical Assistance Provider’s W9, invoice, and payment information via this Google Form.

      • Payment will land with the Technical Assistance Provider within 7-10 days.
